Jvrjenivs f[ecit]: made by Jurjen

Welcome to the website of Jvrjenivs (Jurjen Draaisma in modern times), recreating the crafts of the Roman sutor or leatherworker. This website is meant to showcase my leatherwork based on the archeological remains from the Roman period and inspire fellow re-enactors in their recreations. Furthermore, it shows my work and the living history services I can bring to any public event to display my skills and collection of Roman leatherwork.

Please note that I’m no archeologist, nor a specialist leatherworker. I’m working leather as a hobby and like to share my skills at events and online. All items are made according to my own research into the original items and sometimes one need to make a choice. Where I did so, the recreations show my ideas on the subject only and the originals migth have looked sligthly different.

Nevertheless, I hope ones enjoys my skills and I hope to further share my crafts. If you happen to have any questions about my work or do like me to join your event as a craftsman, just get in touch.
