Gorytos / bow & arrow quiver

A gorytos (Greek: γωρυτός, Latin: gorytus) designated a bow-case for a scythian recurve bow. Usually, the gorytos would allow to store both bow and arrows and these could be highle decorated. Greeks adopted the recurve bow and the gorytos as part of their horse-fighting equipment from around 100 BC and it migth well be represent in the Roman alied armies.

Here a combined bow and arrow gorythos out of goat leather. Note the flap to close the arrow insert to protect the arrows Fletching from damp.
